Over the weekend, I had the distinct pleasure of working with two great body painting artists — Eric Estampador Cabales and Allan Camarin dela Fuente.
The private event for The Professional Shooters Group was arranged by fellow photographer and group member Konrad Ong, who has been in an on-and-off communication with Eric on a painting-cum-photoshoot session for the past two years. The opportunity to realize this plan happened when Eric and Allan came to Manila to present their craftsmanship and artistry during the 2014 PhotoWorld Asia Conference. Eric Cabales was one of the speakers/resource persons during the conference where he was assisted by Allan dela Fuente.
Tony Santos and I contacted our model friends and luckily, two very pretty and professional models were free for the weekend — Yenyen Rose and Princess Xyrene Chua. Both had no body painting experience and were excited to try something new. It was a different experience for them since the painting session lasted almost 5 hours and they had to stand or sit still in one position for long periods of time.
The session was held in Al Gonzales’ private studio in Inner Circle; and since I was learning videography, Konrad Ong kindly set up continuous lights for me. Konrad used his own creation — LED lights mounted on energized metal racks. I really like the quality of the LEDs Konrad used, at 80 CRI, the color rendition was fantastic!
Al Gonzales was occupied with his coaching job that day and could only be with us very briefly at the start of the session. Al is another person who is very generous in sharing his ideas and resources with us.
The day was long for all of us but the resulting work were well worth it for everybody!
